With over 35 years experience in marketing, research, branding and communications, Suzy LaForge has worked with a variety of non-profit, business-to-business and consumer clients including Amazing Place, Houston Ballet, St. John’s School, Texas Children’s Cancer Center, Houston Endowment, Bellows Construction, Continental (United) Airlines and Bridgeland.
After working in marketing research and advertising early in her career, she developed a passion for helping clients SEE THE BIG PICTURE and translating that into actionable, successful marketing plans and communications.
Suzy entered the advertising and marketing field at McCann Erickson, Houston as Project Director in marketing research specializing in qualitative research projects for Exxon, What-a burger and Astroworld. She subsequently worked for Ogilvy & Mather and D’arcy Masius Benton and Bowles in Account Management on national award-winning campaigns for Shell Oil, The Salvation Army and Houston Grand Opera as well as The Woodlands, American Express and Texas Commerce Bank. She founded LaForge Consulting Group in 1989.
During her career, she has been an Adjunct Professor of Advertising at University of Houston, and a presentation speaker on marketing topics including “Meltdown Marketing: How to Maintain Your Brand Awareness in a Downturn”, “Measuring Customer Satisfaction” and “What Non-profit Marketers can learn from Packaged Goods Marketers”. Suzy is also the author of the award-winning book, Remembering What Matters: Stories from an Amazing Place that Reveal the Unexpected Lessons of Dementia.
In addition to her professional career, she has held leadership positions as President of Charter 100, a women’s professional organization; President of Palmer Church Episcopal Church Women’s group; Founding Board President of the non-profit, Purple Songs Can Fly Project at Texas Children’s Cancer Center; Board member of The Parish School and Masquerade Theatre. Suzy graduated magna cum laude from State University of New York with a B.A. in Psychology.
